What the noise usually means
A rattle or vibration is often a loose panel, a loose fan, or a fan blade catching on built-up dirt. A buzzing or grinding noise tends to point at a worn fan motor or a failing bearing. A gurgling or hissing can come from the refrigerant side. We listen, open the unit, and find which one it is before quoting any work.
How we fix it
If the noise is a dirty or clogged fan, a chemical wash clears the dirt that throws the fan off balance. Our non-dismantle chemical wash takes 45 to 60 minutes per unit and starts from $80 to $100 for a split unit. If a part has worn out, we replace fan motors, capacitors and the bits that rattle when they loosen, as part of a repair from $50. We diagnose first and tell you the cause and the cost before any work starts.
