Jurong Bird Park in Singapore has long been around. It took its flight back in 1971, and since then, it has garnered visitors from all over the world. The place is one of the most famous bird sanctuaries that has a number of prominent free-flying aviaries from different places around the globe.
Just imagine that you get to see a vast number of various species of birds in one place. But don’t fret – they are accommodated according to which habitat they are most comfortable with. It also provides the visitors a great opportunity in meeting and interacting with humanity’s fine feathered residents.
If you want to feel like you are in a rainforest surrounded with fascinating birds, you will be able to do if you go to their Waterfall Aviary where you will see more than 600 birds and even their 30-meter high waterfall. The best thing about this place is that you get to witness the small birds fly freely around like no one is going to disturb them, especially when they hop and transfer to different plant species numbering over a hundred. From these statements alone, this means that you get to experience close encounters with the birds during their feeding sessions. You also get a chance to see the crested guinea fowl, something that most people consider as a very elusive bird species and even the roller, turaco and starling.
But that’s not all that you’ll see in the park. Go down further, and you will meet another one of the largest lory flight aviaries of the world, the Lory Loft which is nine stories high. This is where you get to meet the natives from Australia, considered as the friendliest birds in this park you will ever meet. You can even witness a close encounter feeding frenzy when you walk through the suspended bridges carrying a cup of nectar on your hand. You will then be flocked by lorikeets and the chirpy bright lory birds. Some of them would even nestle up to your shoulders! Head straight to the Jungle Jewels, which is a rich tropical rainforest you can find mostly in South America. So what are you going to find here? You will meet the beautiful toucan and be greeted by it. If you change your vision right at the treetops, you can see the brightly colored tanager together with the red-crested cardinal.
